How long we keep information

How long we keep information

We keep information only for as long as we need it for the service, safety, legal obligations, and accounting. The periods below are our customer-facing retention commitments:

  • Operational logs: 90 days.
  • Product telemetry: 13 months. Product telemetry helps us understand and improve how Octuo is used; it is not used to make billing decisions.
  • Billing and tax records: 7 years. We retain these records where required for accounting, tax, fraud prevention, or other legal obligations.
  • Backups: encrypted backups are retained for 35 days. Deleting information from live systems takes effect immediately; backups expire within this window. If a backup is restored, pending deletion requests are replayed so that a deleted account is not brought back.

A legal hold can pause erasure where the law requires preservation. It does not prevent you from exporting your information. When a legal obligation requires us to retain a limited record, we retain only that record and keep it separate from information that can be deleted.

These periods describe our standard policy. A shorter period may apply when a specific feature or law requires it. We do not extend a period silently; any material change will be reflected in this policy.
